So, on Monday morning, I had a conversation with a longtime friend and coach, Stacy. She’s my person when I need a reset. We were chatting about following through on things and she mentioned she’d just done a fast, and I was curious. She offered to send me a video that explained why she does it, and I watched it later that day.

The video talked about the phases your body goes through during a longer fast:

  • Glycogen depletion (your body uses up stored glucose)
  • Ketosis (your body starts using fat for fuel)
  • Autophagy & Cellular Repair (your cells begin a deep-cleaning process, human growth hormone increases and inflammation drops.)

It was interesting, but like all social media content, I kind of shrugged it off after.

And then, it came up again… later that day!

?? New Person. Same exact topic.

That night, I went to dinner with a new YPO forum mate. He mentioned he had just completed a 72-hour fast. I lit up. I told him I’d literally just watched a video about it and then I grilled him on everything.

Why did he do it?
Was it hard?
What was it like?

By the end of the convo, I was mildly curious. But honestly? I thought it would be impossible

I’m a lifelong grazer. A snack queen. Making it to 5 PM without food felt like a pipe dream.
Case in point, that night, I stayed up waiting for ?Chad to come home from the Leafs game. Around midnight, I got snacky, and ate some apple slices.

The next day… I have no idea why. I began to fast.

?? No plan. Just curiosity.

Not because I had a goal. Just because the idea came up twice in 24 hours, and something in me wanted to explore it.

So I asked ChatGPT.

I plugged in:
“What happens in your body hour by hour during a 72-hour fast?”
The breakdown was fascinating, so I decided to try a 24-hour fast. Just to see how far I could go.

I made it to 66 hours.

And I felt unstoppable. Like I was king of the world for doing something I felt was impossible.

I’m still shocked. I thought I’d be miserable. But I actually felt amazing.

I kept checking in with ChatGPT throughout the day:
“Ok, It’s 2 pm Tuesday, What’s happening in my body right now?”

It would tell me, encourage me, and keep me moving forward. Honestly, it kind of became a game. Just get to the next milestone. One more hour. One more phase. And suddenly, I was on day three, full of energy and lit up.

The only reason I stopped at 66 hours was because I started at midnight and didn’t want to eat a full meal in the middle of the night. So I broke my fast at 8 PM.

If you want to see it as I lived it – I’ve save the instagram story here.

Here’s the real point of this story:

Doing hard things,
just because they’re hard,
builds the strongest confidence you’ll ever feel.

Not because you have to suffer.
But because you prove something to yourself.

Every time you do something that stretches your identity, and that challenges the story you tell yourself about what’s possible. You get to become someone new.

That’s where confidence comes from.
It’s earned. It’s embodied.
And it builds the deepest kind of self-trust.

So my advice?

Do something hard. Just to prove you can.
You’ll feel proud. Powerful. Unstoppable. And most importantly: You’ll trust yourself more than ever before.

Aaaaannnnnnnd if you want to build that muscle with support, structure, and the kind of plan that rewires your entire life: I got you Mother Trucker! Book a Discovery Call with me.
