When you’re sick and stuck in bed, everything slows down – including your perspective. This week, between coughing fits and too much TV, I was reminded of one of the most important truths I teach inside my LIFE AT A TEN® Program: Energy is everything.
The Week I Became a Full-Time Cougher
I’ve been so sick the last few days. It’s like my new full-time job is coughing, and I’m so good at it that I’ve even gotten a raise and been asked to come in for overtime hours.
I’ve spent most of my time in bed, watching Monster (I do not recommend unless you want dark nightmares) and making Sora AI videos of my dog.

But somewhere between the Tylenol PM haze and the Ed Gein-level darkness of that series, I was reminded of something that I truly believe:
Yes, your health matters. Yes, your time matters.
But the most vital resource of all is your energy.
Because if you don’t have energy, you can’t use any of the other resources well anyway.
And like all precious resources, we need to manage and optimize our energy, but we also need to create it to keep ourselves full of it.
Energy Is a Renewable Resource
The good news: energy is renewable.
The catch: it only comes from within.
That’s why scrolling through social media, binge-watching TV, or even taking a vacation doesn’t really recharge you for long.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m obsessed with tubby time. Get me a bubble bath, some HBO, and a snack platter, and I’m loving life. But that’s a reward, not a recharge.
The only way to charge a battery is by plugging it into something.
So, if you want to create and keep ongoing energy, you need to plug into:

Yep! Purpose, Projects, Creativity, Connection, Gratitude, Fun, Novelty, and the Feeling of Winning.
These are the exact areas we focus on inside the LIFE AT A TEN® Program, where I teach you how to structure your days and systems so you wake up full of energy and actually feel alive again.
Your Weekend Challenge: Plug In
This weekend, pick one thing to plug into.
- If there’s a project or creative endeavor you started but let lag, plug into that.
- If you want to inject some fun or novelty into your weekend, download my FREE Choose Adventure Guide and try something from it.
- If it’s Canadian Thanksgiving for you, plug into gratitude. Make a list of what you love about the people around you.
And if you want to plug into all of these, purpose, creativity, connection, and joy, then it’s time to join me inside LIFE AT A TEN® and learn how to CEO THE SHXT OUT OF YOUR LIFE.
