Many of us work, live, and exist from home far more than we used to. When that happens, it is easy for our world to quietly shrink without us even noticing.
Am I a Hermit? Are You?
One of my girlfriends called me the other day and somehow we got on the topic of whether we’ve slowly turned into hermits over the past few years.
Now, to be clear, I know I am not an actual hermit. I choose adventure. I travel. I go to things. I’m probably out and about more than the average bear.
But there has absolutely been a shift.
Pre-Covid me was wildly scheduled. I used to work backwards from a 5:00 AM alarm. Full makeup, full outfit, lunch packed for me and my son, teeth brushed, Jack dressed, out the door mostly on time, and some days I even fit in a quick game of catch with him. Then a full day of meetings, office shxt, and chats with other humans all day long.
Now I can go weeks without needing to leave my house for anything mandatory. With work from home, so much of the external pressure is gone. There is no commute, no office, and no getting dressed with full hair and makeup. Case in point, this is literally me right now typing this out.

In fact, my friend and I joked that if we look at an almost blank week and see something like a hair appointment on Thursday, we feel dread. Like, fxck, I have to leave the house?
That is wild. Like wildly not good.
We are both working and we are both busy. But productivity is not the same thing as presence in the world.
And what I realized is that my world might actually be getting smaller.
When Your World Quietly Starts to Shrink
In the same way that someone who has never left their hometown might feel overwhelmed flying to Shanghai, while someone who grew up moving countries feels totally fine anywhere, your tolerance for being out in the world expands or contracts based on exposure.
If you are feeling like a hermit working from home, it may simply be because your system is less practiced at being out there.
When you are not used to leaving your house much, going to a conference, a lunch event, or even committing to something weekly can start to feel like a bigger deal than it used to.
But it is not actually bigger. You are just less practiced.
As I wrote about last week, a body in motion stays in motion and a body at rest stays at rest.
When you are used to being out five days a week, adding dinner plans or lunch meetings is no big deal. When most of your days are at home, committing to those same types of things can suddenly feel like a massive energy drain.
And here is the kicker.
When something feels like a big deal, that is often exactly why you should do it.
Why Doing the Hard Thing Expands Your Life
It is actually part of the reason I decided to run a LIVE in person cohort of my Program this spring. Right now, committing to ten Wednesday nights over April and May feels like a bigger deal than it would have five years ago.
And that is precisely why I knew I needed to do it.
The Spring 2026 LIVE, IN-PERSON LIFE AT A TEN® Cohort begins April 1 at 7:00 PM and runs for 10 weekly sessions in downtown Toronto.
If that feels like a bit of a big deal to you, it might be exactly why you need to do it too.
Yes, I said need. Because everyone benefits from getting their ass out of the house and getting together with a like minded community of women who are all aiming to level up their lives. Me included.
This is not just about curriculum. It is about being in a room with real humans doing real work on your life. It is about getting strategic, building momentum through action, and expanding your world again.
If you are feeling like a hermit working from home, sometimes the best antidote is simply getting back into rooms with people who are building something meaningful in their lives.

I am booking Discovery Calls and Fit Interviews starting March 16 until March 31, 2026.
Book a call and we can commit to this together.
And even if you do not join me, go do something this week that feels a little daunting.
Because sometimes the thing that feels like the biggest stretch is exactly the thing that brings you back to life.
